msds1™

Since 1985, the United States Department of Labor has required Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for every chemical substance that is manufactured and/or distributed in the United States. There are currently over 3.5 million individual MSDS’s in circulation. Each has a mandated section regarding health hazard data. Historically, that health hazard data has been based upon animal studies and/or anecdotal human events. Now, thanks to a breakthrough discovery made by The Cytokine Institute, in collaboration with laboratories at leading academic institutions, it’s possible to provide direct cause-and-effect relationships between chemical substances and the ill effects they have on human health.

DNA. A Primer.

The body of every human being is composed of millions of cells. At the heart of each of those cells is the basic building block of life, DNA. Each nucleus of every cell in the body carries two strands of DNA, which possess our genetic code. That DNA determines what diseases we develop, how we respond to health-related stimuli, and what our ultimate morbidity and mortality can or will be. On each of these strands of DNA are specific genes. Based upon the recently accomplished human genome study, we are aware that there are slightly over 36,000 different genes.

The msds1™ Breakthrough.

Among our genes are those that can promote or suppress cancer, lead to birth defects, promote heart disease and potentially precipitate a variety of other maladies. Because of our technology, which is called msds1™, The Cytokine Institute, in conjunction with laboratories at leading academic institutions, has the capability to identify unique DNA signatures in response to how human cells and their individual DNA respond to a chemical, toxic, or noxious exposure. This ability determines with specificity whether an individual who was allegedly exposed to an agent did indeed have injurious consequences from that exposure.

When the criminal court system relies on DNA-based evidence, it only takes 13 DNA parameters to determine the guilt or innocence for a case as serious as murder or rape. msds1™ relies on no less than 22,000 DNA-based parameters for determining whether an injurious chemical or toxicologic exposure has occurred.

Our breakthrough discovery has already received laudatory comments from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and its Director, Mr. E. Foulke.

The DNA “Signature”.

Thanks to msds1™, no longer must one rely on the brief, generic, and nonspecific health hazard data that currently exists in Material Safety Data Sheets. Such data has historically been based upon animal experimental models, which modern science has taught us often has little to no carryover or pertinence for human beings. Instead of relying on anecdotal comments by individuals purportedly exposed to noxious substances, msds1™ provides a DNA signature (“fingerprint”) that is specific for that chemical agent. It is DNA-based fingerprints that often control the outcome in criminal cases. Through msds1™ technology, DNA signatures can enter the civil arena, for both third-party cases or those regarding Workers’ Compensation.

As a result, instead of relying on an estimated guess as to whether an individual was injuriously exposed to a particular chemical, we can now determine with 99.9+% accuracy if an injurious exposure occurred based upon chemical-specific DNA signatures.

The msds1™ protocol offers a prospective, rather than the currently relied upon retrospective methodology for MSDS’s.

The Advantages of Human Testing.

Our tests are not based upon anecdotal or animal-based models. We directly test men and women of multiple ethnicities, including Caucasians, Hispanics, Asians, and African-Americans. Our Material Safety Data Sheets are constantly updated, thanks to an ever-growing database, which is anticipated to soon exceed 80,000. Because they address human health issues, our testing protocols have met federally-mandated Institutional Review Board standards set according to United States Federal Government guidelines.

The 24/7/365 Advantage of msds1™.

Companies who rely upon our msds1™ Material Safety Data Sheets are provided a toll-free 800 number, so company medical personnel can speak to specially trained medical toxicologists. These specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week and 365 days per year. We maintain necessary patient privacy per HIPAA.

Obviously, the value of this information for any company is far-reaching. No longer will companies be forced to pay for medical care related to alleged chemical or toxic exposures, except when there is a true and actual injury. With msds1™, injurious chemical exposure can be confirmed with specificity through medical science’s most precise methodology—that which is DNA-based. The result is that medical treatment can now be provided in a unique, distinct, and appropriate fashion, allowing the injured party to benefit from a more rapid recuperation, while limiting potential residual consequences. Employers who rely on this information will now have the ability to institute protocols that translate into the utmost degree of safety and benefit for their employees, while concurrently reducing the cost of providing that protection, since risks are no longer based upon suppositions and speculative “guesstimates” regarding an injurious exposure.

The msds1™ Cost Benefit.

The cost of achieving msds1™ specificity is only a fraction of what it costs to defend a chemical- or toxicologic-based claim, let alone treat one. msds1™ also provides the benefit of maintaining a pro-active response to government regulators, which translates into unequivocal reassurance for employees that the most current and accurate methods are employed to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of each employee and customer.
